The Brief To promote Sky Arts’ Portrait Artist of the Year we were to help create a PR stunt involving the nation’s favourite portrait, The Mona Lisa,
The Solution was a massive 14m (46ft) high easel displaying a giant mosaic composed of 84 images submitted by entrants to the national portrait artist of the year competition on Clapham Common.. The structure weighed 3 tonnes and was anchored by 12 tonnes of ballast to prevent it being blown away. The canvas was 85 times bigger than the original portrait and took multimedia artist Quentin Devine a week to create. Standing at double the average height of a two-storey house it is now the largest ever easel to be displayed in Europe.
The Result: was multiple regional and national coverage.
